The PJ Masks 15” Fly Wheel has solid construction once assembled, which took about 30 minutes. The ride on itself was constructed well but I’m sure the traction will wear out quickly. The instructions were included for assembly but none for the stickers, even though they are numbered. Overall, the PJ Masks Ride On is well worth the price tag.
If your child is a fan of the PJ Masks TV show and loves to go on adventures with Catboy, Gekko, Owlette, or Romeo, then they will love this 15″ Fly Wheel Ride-On Tricycle [Amazon Link]!
Your child will be able to ride it around without fear of tipping over thanks to its wide stable base that prevents skidding. The handlebars are specially designed for young hands and include an adjustable seat just in case you’re worried about them not reaching the pedals.
PJ Masks 15” Fly Wheel Review
The PJ Masks 15” Fly Wheel comes in other designs as well like PAW Patrol 15” Fly Wheel and Minnie 15” Fly Wheel [Amazon Link]. I was a bit worried about the size as they mention 15” flywheel works best on a child up to 44 inches long.
My son is exactly 44 inches and he fits perfectly on it.
In fact, we adjusted the seat to the middle so we can even move it one more notch as he continues to grow. He is able to pedal it on the blacktop or sidewalk with no issues at all.
When it comes to grass he is unable to move it without a push. He is new at riding these types of toys though so in time he may build up some muscle to push through but for now, I wouldn’t recommend it for grass.
I feel you will be able to add traction when needed which I plan to do and make a tutorial on in the future.
I do notice it does slide a bit on the kitchen floor when he drives it in the house, though this is something we won’t have in the house for long as it just takes up too much room for our small place. He is able to drive backward with no problems and loves doing it.
The turning radius is as good as can be expected. I have seen reports of issues with the stickers but they seemed to work great at this point in time, possibly down the line they may fade especially if left in the rain.
There is no music option with this vehicle, some think it comes with all these lights and music but there is no music at all and only one flashing yellow light that can be put on the front wheel.
The light uses 3 round batteries and wasn’t flashing at all until we put it in the wheel and he drove it.
We tried to manually have it flash several ways but just wouldn’t work for us until it was installed. I have a full YouTube video review on it as well where I show it in action, I will put it below.
PJ Masks 15” Fly Wheel Assembly
There are a few things that you will need for the assembly.
- A screwdriver
- A hammer
Putting together this big wheel took longer than we thought, mainly because we thought the light was broken and changed out the batteries.
The stickers come numbered but didn’t see any numbers on the car itself or in the directions. As for the rest of the directions they did the trick though at times it told us to hammer when I didn’t feel it was needed.
Make sure you put the front wheel in the correct direction or you will have to remove it and flip it later as we did.
We created a full video showing you how we put it together and yes it did take us some time but we had fun with it, of course, I just held the camera as my wife put it together. Hey! I was there for emotional support!
Full disclosure this was not a sponsored product, we purchased it in full.
Overall, I would definitely buy the PJ Masks Fly Wheel again if I went back in time, and now knowing what I do we could install it much faster.
I also noticed the 16” flywheel is about 2 ½ times the price as the 15” so I’m glad I went with this one. This will hold him over till we get him his next Power Wheels.
